Bridging Child Development is a Texas (TECPDS Registered) Training Organization

We provide child care training for infant, toddler, and preschool teachers across Texas.
Our courses are accepted by Texas HHSC Child Care Regulation toward your annual training requirements, and we're registered with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS).

Annual Training Hours by Role

Texas child care staff must complete annual training, relevant to the age of the children they serve, under HHSC Child Care Regulation minimum standards (26 TAC Ch. 746):
Role: Caregivers | Annual Training: 24 clock hours  (8 hours before working with children + 16 hours within 90 days)
Role: Directors | Annual Training: 30 clock hours (6 hrs in child development, guidance, curriculum, or special needs)
Role: For both Caregivers and Directors | Annual Training: 6 hours must be in core topics and at least 1 hour must cover prevention, recognition, and reporting of child maltreatment

The 80% Self-Instruction Rule

Texas limits how much of your annual training can be self-instructional (online/self-paced):
Caregivers: At least 5 of 24 hours must be instructor-led — so up to 19 hours can be self-instructional
Directors: At least 6 of 30 hours must be instructor-led — so up to 24 hours can be self-instructional


Of your self-instructional hours, no more than 3 may come from self-study

Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS)

TECPDS is Texas's workforce registry for early childhood professionals, the system where your training hours, credentials, and career pathway progress are tracked. All staff in TDFPS-licensed programs are expected to maintain an active TECPDS account.

Texas CDA Training

Our courses can also be used toward earning or renewing your Texas CDA training requirements. All trainings align with various CDA competency areas.
