Annual Training Requirements

All providers in Vermont are required to complete 15 hours of professional development annually to maintain licensing compliance with the Vermont Child Development Division (CDD), part of the Department for Children and Families (DCF).

All Bridging Child Development courses are approved through Northern Lights at CCV and count toward your annual Vermont professional development requirement.

Beyond Your Hours: STARS & The Career Ladder

Your professional development does two things beyond meeting your annual hours:

  • Your STARS rating — STARS is Vermont's quality recognition system, and staff qualifications and training factor into your program's score.

  • Your Northern Lights Career Ladder — completed hours and credentials help you advance and may qualify you for a CDD recognition bonus.
